Lady Meranda stood regal and bore
Blessed beauty bards sung of in ancient lore.
Kings of Earth and Sky gave tribute freely
To be graced in turn by such purity.
Saccharine suitors waxed pious poetry
To be returned rejection readily.
From her empty parlor she sits to brood
Upon her life that was granted by blood,
Only to find that the riches she stored
Could not contrive to bring her a true lord.
She remembered days when all was simple,
Smiled at memories of a future ample
With promises and unencumbered truth.
Today, she wished she could but gently soothe
The pain and anguish, her father, the King, bore
For a people that was bereft and sore
From years of strife and grief to gain secure
A world where Earth and Sky were safe and pure.
Outside the heavy windows, downcast skies
Below shudder and quake as storms cry
Havoc upon the fertile Earth below.
In the Sky Palace, the twin stars bestow
Ever-present warmth and a gilded peace
Bright with bloody hope and light that could cease
Should the burning shadows ever grow cold.
In the light above the storms, man is bold
Above reason. Rumors and plots abound,
Sniffed out of darkness by the palace hounds.
It was the latest rumor of dread plots
That ran through the palace like deadly shots.
The Carmagano were now organized,
Better prepared than they had realized.
What did they want? Were they a threat to peace?
These questions gave the Sky Council unease.
The great King’s Hand, ever loyal and true,
Had been sent upon a quest to pursue
The light of truth of these rampant rumors.
Before fear spreads like malignant tumors
Upon the light hearts of the Earth and Sky.
Lady Meranda breaths forth a sad sigh
Wanting nothing more than to bend and cry.
However, she would be brave. Not for her
Own self; for those that needed to be sure,
Sure that the world was not falling apart
So they could go on without heavy heart,
Giving them shoulders upon which to cope
Keeping the Earth and Sky moving with hope.

Mathius, Lord of Heaven, the King’s Hand
Surveys his land of plenty with a band
Of prideful men, knights of the Old Order
Whose legendary feats on the border
Of Earth and Sky have given rise to fame,
And stamped fear into enemies made lame.
On his airborne steed of metal and flame,
Sharp eyes spy the Earth to cleanse putrid shame.
What of these Carmagano? Asks his man,
Castus, whose lineage boasts honor and land
Beyond measure. They incite the mad crowd.
The last decade had created a proud,
Petulant band of renegade brigands
Whose acts of sedition throughout the lands
Has brought too many an inconvenience.
Kings of Earth and Sky send forth sword and lance,
Their watchful eyes probing every niche,
Hoping to scour out the mentally sick.
We will stamp them out as we have all things,
For sworn we keep the justice of the kings.
So said true Mathius with honored tongue,
Whose fiery steed acknowledged with flames sung
From strong chin and the beat of phoenix wings.
Castus bowed before the Hand of the King.
He pointed forward with purpose, fervor
To serve the Hand of The King forever
Knowing honors spilled forth from that full cup,
Whose table Castus hoped he’d always sup.

Untitled Epic Poem - Part 1
Wave – caressed shores glistening in glory
Encompass a land of lore and plenty
Where kings of land and sea have taken flight
Becoming lords of Heaven. In their plight,
The disillusioned fallen gather ‘round
Scamming shadows whose felonious sounds
Are masked mute by tendered desperate hopes.
An underground force forged by slippery slopes,
The Carmagano strain spreads like wild fire,
Spreading discontent on the roaring pyre.

Pen strokes of flightless thoughts chain me down.
Their spoken truths light an illegitimate path,
Too safe and firmly anchored.
Underneath the thin, flawless surface
Lies sadness for a life denied,
Buried by insecurities firmly rooted by fearful perceptions.
Lamentations of secret longings weigh heavily,
Wanting…fearing…knowing inevitable change.
My body has become one with my unconscious mind,
Their woes inflicting me day and night
With sapphire pain and winter’s waiting hand.
In this place between, I see an unsure path,
A hope…fear…longing for a true fit,
A life fulfilled, anchored in granite truth.
I see it, the path to which I must go,
But…Do I dare?
Oh…if I could step my mind through the fog,
Release the vision I know I must find.
I know…feel…believe that a tree of tomorrow
Branches forward from here…there…somewhere.
I know…
